A Re-Engaged Republican

A Letter to the Virginia Project

Hello there,

Thank you for explaining the basics of the GOP. As I ask around it is amazing how many that "serve" really don't know the rules, and of course they change the rules to fit their own agenda. The more I learn, the more I see how crazy it all is. I have been pushing for someone to teach a "class", everyone says great idea and a few seem sincerely interested, but who knows if it will manifest. I know I am not the only one that doesn't understand the in's and out's. Every time I go to some political event it reminds me of why I walked away from involvement years ago. "The Party" is so fractured it isn't funny.

I did sign up for both conventions, and sadly I still don't have a 7th congressional candidate I want to support. My main goal for the State convention is [REDACTED] and see the President.

I did get to attend a class hosted by Foundation for Applied Conservative Leadership. It was good. I may try to sponsor one in my county.

The Trump people have shown up w/in the region. I know kids are cheap, but jeez, I wish they would hire adults once in a while.

I signed up through the VA Voter Registration site to be able to register voters. I was pretty upset to see how slack it all is.

I have been making phone calls to the Capital for all the good it does, the calls have helped w/a few bills, but the Democrats simply don't care, power on and mow us down seems to be their mindset. Slowly but surely I am learning more about State politics as opposed to my interest in Federal politics. They name the bills w/numbers and that gets on my nerves because I can't remember what is what, and then there are the obnoxious people that go around touting them like they are special because they know all the numbers of the various bills. I want to smack them.

I hope things are good for you and that your site is growing. I did see your list for the convention deadlines, and that is one of the most helpful things I have seen in a while. You are way ahead of the others that claim to be informed and that trying to be activists w/in the GOP.

Anyway, sorry for the long email, but I wanted to update you, and mostly apologize for not answering in a timely manner. I feel bad about that. I am still trying to figure out my niche` where I belong in all this to do some good for Virginia.
